Sacramento’s First Science Competition to Crown the Best 3 Minute Science Talk

This is your chance to compete to give the best science talk in the Sacramento region. Three minutes, no slides, just a chance to share your passion about your work to a nonscientific audience.  In addition to the talk, we have a science communication workshop to improve your skills in communicating science.

Rules: Three-minute science talks based your research, work, or scientific concept in your field of expertise to a general adult audience. No PowerPoint slides allowed but handheld props are strongly encouraged, and we’ll have a whiteboard for you to sketch on. Talked will be judged based on three main categories: Charisma, Content, and Clarity. Judges will be local science communicators and journalists.

Eligibility: Any early career scientist, graduate or undergraduate student, or someone who works in a scientific field is eligible to participate. Contestants are invited to attend an optional workshop hosted by Science Says. A title of the talk and an outline or synopsis is also required through online registration.
